Jenny Burton, M. Ed., CCC-SLP, earned her Master's degree in Communication Disorders from the University of Virginia and completed her clinical fellowship in speech-language pathology at the Kennedy Krieger Institute in Baltimore, Maryland. She is a third year doctoral student in communication sciences and disorders at the University of Cincinnati. Her research interests are related to the SLPs role in assessment and intervention as it relates to autism spectrum disorders. She is specifically involved in two research projects—a case study related to the Rapid Prompting Method and a study that will compare the differences between boys and girls performance on assessment measures administered during the initial diagnostic process. Her long-term career goals are to conduct clinical research that will help influence clinical policies and procedures for SLPs that work with individuals with autism spectrum disorders and other developmental disabilities.

Katie is a LEND Trainee at Cincinnati Children’s Hospital working with children with or at risk for developmental disabilities. In her career, she hopes to work with children, specializing in early intervention and English language learners. Woody Rule received his Bachelor of Arts in Psychology with a minor in Linguistics at Wake Forest University in Winston-Salem, North Carolina. He has since started his training in speech-language pathology at the University of Cincinnati and currently volunteers with the National Stuttering Association Uptown Clifton chapter. He has worked with a variety of children and adults with developmental disabilities in school settings and outpatient clinics. Currently, he is participating in a developmental disabilities leadership training program (LEND) through Cincinnati Children's Hospital and UCEDD. After graduation, Woody plans to spend up to two years in Kenya providing speech pathology training to local health-care professionals and also assist with the implementation of a rural community-based rehabilitation and treatment program for adults and children with disabilities.

Katherine Bettner is currently a first year Graduate Student in Communication Sciences and Disorders. She received a Bachelor’s degree in Speech and Hearing Science in addition to a Spanish minor at The Ohio State University. She worked as Lab Manager in Dr. Washington’s PedLLS Lab during the 2012-2013 school year. As Lab Manager, Katherine administered language assessments to preschoolers at various daycare centers in Cincinnati, which were utilized for Dr. Washington’s research of English Language Learning preschoolers. Currently, Katherine has found interest in pediatric traumatic brain injury as well as the development of literacy skills among children who speak English as a second language.

Hello, my name is Dillon Davis. I am from Winchester, Ohio. I am a 1st year student in the MA-SLP program at the University of Cincinnati. My hobbies are watching and playing sports. I love the Cincinnati Bengals, Reds, and of course the Cincinnati Bearcats. I have a wide area of interest within our field from childhood language and literacy to adult stroke/TBI patients. My research includes the completion of a content analysis on a parent-shared book reading program for Head Start children who are English Language Learners. I love this field and am very excited to learn more, complete my degree, and get out into the field to start working with clients!

understanding the cognitive development of children, more specifically how they
develop literacy skills. I am currently conducting research in an effort to
